      Advertising
Special deal: Until April 15th, 2010, IDbCG is offering free advertising to game developers, publishers, and distributors. You may submit one banner and one side advertisement per game. Advertisements must conform to the standards for all IDbCG advertisements.

If you are a first-time advertiser with IDbCG, you get one month of free advertising for one advertisement. No placement or other options are available for this free advertisement.

      Types of advertising permitted
Advertisements must be related to the game industry, or of interest to the general public. IDbCG dedicates 10% of its advertising to public service ads.

      Content restrictions
Subject solely to the opinion of the IDbCG, advertisements which are deemed to be generally offensive, defamatory, libelous, illegal, or otherwise not in conformance to the rules herein will not be accepted. Advertisements may not promote a particular political party, political candidate, or politically controversial subject. Advertisements may not promote a particular religious group or religion. Advertisements may not include images containing nudity or near nudity, gore, extreme realistic personal violence, alcohol or narcotics, or images of any real persons without the consent of those persons. Advertisements may not contain language or animations that depict or imply sexual acts, extreme realistic personal violence, include profanity, or promote alcohol or narcotic use. Advertisements will remain neutral on issues that could reasonably considered to be part of the "culture war", including (but not limited to) non-traditional marriage, abortion, global warming, and guns. Advertisements must be clearly represented as advertisements and not attempt to deceive the viewer into thinking that they are anything but an advertisement separate from the rest of the content of the IDbCG site. Advertisements may not use animations, misspellings, or innuendo in an attempt to bypass any of the preceding guidelines. Finally, text should be in English. All advertisements must be hosted on the IDbCG site. Currently only GIF, JPEG, BMP. and PNG images are accepted.

Image sizes must not exceed 800 pixels wide for banners, 120 pixels wide for side ads. They must not exceed 300 pixels high for banners. There is no limit on height for side ads. No image may exceed 500Kb.

Email your advertisements to Include one email per advertisement. You can either 1) Attach the image to the email and include the hyperlink URL to be associated with the image, or 2) include the URL of the image and the hyperlink URL to be associated with the image.

      Company Profile
The IDbCG includes minimal profiles for all game developers, publishers, and distributors. You can promote your company by providing us with a more detailed company description. Please avoid hyperbole (such as "XYZ company is the world's leader in FPS games") or any derogatory comments about competitors. You may update your company page at any time by submitting an updated description. Suggested contents include founding date, names of founders, company history, subsidiaries, size in sales and employees, and notable accomplishments. Send submissions to Submissions may be edited for clarity, grammar, and spelling. The submission may be in plain text or HTML. Any statements known to be false will be removed.

      Game and Product Information
The IDbCG is constantly updated with game-development tools, newly released games, and historical games. If you have a game-development product, email us to let us know about it (please indicate at least one game that was developed using it). For games, we will eventually add yours. However, if you wish to have your game listed as quickly as possible, here are some ways to accomplish this:
      1. The easy way. Send a copy of your game, including box art and manuals (printed or digital), to IDbCG. We will extract the information and add it to the site. Also, if the game qualifies, we will review it as well.
      2. The quick way. Email us a link where the information can be found. Email to

      Hosting
The IDbCG doesn't usually host game files on our servers. However, we might make an exception under certain circumstances. The basic requirements for hosting are as follows:
      1) the game must not be available anywhere else on the internet. If it is, we will be happy to link to it, but not to host it.
      2) the game must be either freeware or shareware.
      3) the game must not have content that average people would consider to be offensive.
      4) we do not host game servers.
If your game meets these criteria, email us with information about the game and we will consider your request to host the game files. Email to

      Press Releases
The IDbCG will display your press releases on its home page, free of charge, for the day of release. They will be available after that via a link. The press releases must be in regard to the game industry. They may not include offers of securities or be in any language which violates our advertising guidelines. The press release may be plain text or formatted via HTML. If HTML is used, font settings will be automatically stripped from the message so that the text color, font, and size matches the rest of the page. No more than one image may be included and it may not exceed 60 pixels width or height. URLs may be included, but must take the user to page indicated. Individual press releases may not exceed 2 Kb in length. Press releases not conforming to these rules will be discarded with no notice to the sender. Press releases received outside of business hours may be delayed until the next business day.
Do not send more than one press release per day per product, service, or announcement.
Send press releases to The message body must be the press release content and the subject line
      must be "PRESS".

      Ratings
Games are listed with ESRB and/or PEGI ratings if these ratings are available. In addition, the IDbCG has its own game rating standard which provides more detailed information than ESRB and PEGI. Any full game provided to the IDbCG will be assigned a rating. The process of rating a game is free and automatic if we have the complete game. However, rating games is more involved than simply reviewing them, so a rating will generally take longer to show up on the site. See
details on our rating system. Assigned ratings may be changed at the discretion of the IDbCG.

      Reviews
The IDbCG reviews games and includes those reviews with the game on its page. We may eventually get around to reviewing your game without any contact from you. However, if you wish to speed up this process you can send us a copy of your game. Even so, games will generally be reviewed in order received. You may expedite the process by including a check for $50 US, payable to Conroy & Conroy Company. This will ensure that review of your game will be moved ahead of other non-expedited games. However, payment of the expediting fee will not guarantee a favorable review. If you wish to have multiplayer play reviewed, you must include at least one additional copy, paid access to an on-line service, and/or additional authorization codes as appropriate. Games that require a credit card - even if not charged during a trial period - will not be reviewed.

Games which are less than 100 Mb in size can be submitted for review simply by sending a download link to the file(s) to All other games must be sent on distribution media to:
